If you want to invest in your health, there are a lot of “new trends” that come and go with every year, trying to convince you that the latest and greatest diet fat is the single cure to any problem you’ve ever experienced in terms of your health.
The reality is that while these fads come and go, the only real tried and true method is to eat well, and make sure you have access to high quality health care.
That’s where this latest fad comes in, except I don’t think it’s much of a fad at all: concierge medicine.
Concierge Medicine Sweeps the Nation
Beginning in the late 1990s, concierge medical practices have steadily increased over the last two decades, and the industry has literally exploded in the last 5 years.
A form of health care that was once reserved only for the rich and famous has now become accessible to almost anyone, but is this just a fad, or a wave of the future?
Not Just a Fad
Concierge medicine, also known as personalized medicine, has the ability to change that way we think about our health, as it makes your individual medical treatment a personal issue.
Unlike a visit to any hospital, concierge services allow you to get to know your doctor, and focus primarily on preventing issues from arising in the first place, by taking a long term look at your total health. Physicians increasingly recognize that the body is a coordinated unit, and treating each symptom or disease as it arises is kind of like patching holes in a wall with duct tape, rather than investing in building a sound structure from the get go.
It’s a win-win for everyone involved, as you get a better level of personalized medicine and health care, which also puts you back in control of your health care, rather than being subjected to the impersonal policies of larger hospital institutions.
